Campers Paradise Restaurant to Undergo Major Renovation

A Letter to our Faithful Customers and Friends,

 

Campers Paradise is undergoing a transition. After 37 years of service to this community, and after a long thoughtful process, David, Danny, Dee and I have decided to sell to the developers of Sunset Cay, a mixed residential and commercial community being built of Hendricks Store Road. The Marina, Motel and Campground will continue uninterrupted through this season.

 

The restaurant will undergo a major renovation. Seating will increase from 96 to 324, which includes the outdoor deck area. The kitchen area will be expanded and new equipment added. The marina store will become the main dining area and the store will move upstairs. More windows will be added to take advantage of our panoramic views, and the current seating location will become a bar area. The entire facility will become non-smoking, and the atmosphere will remain a pleasant, family-dining experience. The staff will remain the same and Wendell will stay through the transition process.

 

The restaurant’s menu will undergo some modifications:

• Breakfast will not change (we are consistently voted “Best on the Lake” by readers of the Smith Mountain Laker magazine)

• Lunch will include the addition of more sandwich and salad selections

• The dinner menu will be expanded to include steaks, seafood and specialty entrees

 

Hours of operation will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

 

TIMING FOR RENOVATION

(Subject to change pending permits, etc.)

   Sunday, March 4 – Last full day of operation prior to renovation

   Monday, March 5 – Renovation begins

   Mid-Late April – Planned reopening

Thank you for your patronage. We have enjoyed serving you and are confident you will be in good hands with the Sunset Cay team. They have been very understanding and considerate of what this place means to us. Our parents, Norma Jean and Leo Teass, would be extremely pleased that their vision for the lake community continues to grow.  I am more than excited about the future plans here even though I will miss you all.
